Festa del Bignè di Orentano

An event by the Ente Carnevale dei Bambini Pro Loco di Orentano

The Dolcione shaped like the Colosseum, made of pastry and sugar, lit up at night among the crowd

Dates to be announced

What it is

It takes place in August, for the feast of San Lorenzo, the village’s patron saint, and it is the work and passion of the many pastry chefs who live or have lived in Orentano.

Orentano’s pastry chefs create the «Dolcione»: a sculpture of sugar, butter, eggs and flour that draws people with a sweet tooth from all over Tuscany.

It takes place in the village, within a week of celebrations with entertainment every evening: the «Agosto Orentanese».

In 2024 the Bignè di Orentano joined the list of Tuscany’s traditional food products (Prodotti agroalimentari tradizionali).
